Bully Woodworking FAQ

While the majority of our work is done on a custom basis, we also love to create pieces during spare time based on our own creative visions. When these pieces become available, they can be found under the “Store” tab.

To maintain simplicity and clear communication, we have broken the process out into the following three phases:

The Initial Phase: The Initial Phase begins by filling out the contact information on the “Contact Us” page or sending an email to bullywoodworking.1@gmail.com. Once we receive your information, we will respond with a short order form that is meant to give us a general idea of what you are looking for. We will use this information to provide an estimated quote for your approval prior to proceeding to the Design Phase.

The Design Phase: In the Design Phase, we will discuss your vision more in-depth and create a detailed plan for the final design. This phase allows us to use these plans to not only ensure your approval of the product, but to also provide a final price for your approval prior to any construction beginning.

The Construction Phase: Once the design and final price have been approved, the Construction Phase can begin. This phase requires a 50% non-refundable deposit that is meant to cover the cost of materials. These phases will result in your vision being brought to life!

As a general rule, we aim to complete the design phase within two weeks and the construction within an additional 4 – 6 weeks. This can vary due to the size and complexity of the piece and the availability of custom parts (such as the type and style of table legs) but we will communicate with you through the entire process so that you are always aware of the status and expected timeline.

Absolutely. Our goal is to always have the natural beauty of the wood be the star of the product. Epoxy is a great medium for that end goal, but we also specialize in custom furniture using only wood. It is completely up to the customer’s preference and vision.

Yes! Epoxy is completely safe, and for pieces that would have food come in contact with them (such as cutting boards or charcuterie/serving boards) we use food grade epoxy and finishing products.

Wood and materials are sourced and purchased from locally owned small businesses as much as possible. Since opening Bully Woodworking, we have felt an outpouring of support from local businesses and will continue to put that support back into our community.

We offer free delivery in the Virginia, D.C., and North Carolina areas, and larger pieces will be hand-delivered to ensure safe and accurate install. Local pickup is available when preferred by the client. Shipping is available for smaller items and on a case-by-case basis for larger ones.

Care for these pieces is simple and straightforward and we will provide specific instructions upon delivery.

Yes. As a veteran owned and operated business, we understand the sacrifice serving requires. Veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders including police, firefighters, and paramedics receive 10% off labor costs.

For custom pieces, once the plans provided in the Design Phase have been approved, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin construction, with the remaining 50% due upon completion and prior to delivery. For the deposit and remaining balance, and when purchasing completed products already available, we invoice through PayPal which accepts most major debit and credit cards.

Reference photos are welcome and encouraged during the Design Phase. Keep in mind that due to the nature of being handmade to order, no two pieces will ever be identical – which is one of the greatest perks of custom furniture!
